The Web GENII is a system of several GENII components used for publishing GENII intranet applications to the public-domain internet. When applications are published from the GENII Administrator, they are self-contained and only need reference to business data. As such, published applications may be placed into any desired environment provided the business data to be published through the application are available within that environment. As illustrated below, the Web GENII also facilitates the circulation of data across a firewall, with the Application GENII running behind the safety of the organization firewall, and the Web GENII operating outside the firewall. Note the following components:
- Firewall: an appliance used to filter communications from the internet to the intranet.
- Public Domain Web Site: a web site maintained on the world wide web by the organization to serve users who are not permitted into the organizations' intranet.
- Business Data: information maintained by the organization as protected within the firewall.
- Replicated Business Data: a mirror of a cross section of business data to be opened to the internet.
- GENII Stored Procedure Manager: GENII features and functions used to maintain synchronization between the business and public domain datasets.
- Web GENII (GENII Gems): one or many GENII applications published as GENII Gems, as installed outside the organizations' firewall.
- GENII Administrator: provides tools for publishing free-standing web applications for export to public domain web sites.
