The GENII Administration Console provides tools to build data applications, manage relationships and data integrity, and well as mapping and security. Because the Administration is web-enabled it is possible to set and develop applications on the fly while sitting next to prospective users. The Administration Console is split into Vertical Tabs which group common administrative tasks.
The System V-Tab is used to administer GENII as a software installation:
 |
- System Parameters: contains those features and settings which affect GENII at the installed instance level. License file and installed version information is displayed here, together with the titles and footers used to customize the particular installation.
- User Interface Options: contains arrays of check boxes used to customize the user interface by removing and adding web controls.
- Database Connections: lists the data providers used to communicate with external database platforms and their constituent tables.
- System Tools: provides a variety of functions which validate the GENII Metadata Framework, as well as the prescribed format of business data within their respective databases. A variety of System Maintenance Reports are available to assist in this system validation process.
- System Logs: used to audit changes in user security grade. These logs should be reviewed on a routine basis to assess the need for further audit.
- Online Help: opens the GENII Help System.
- Clear Session: clears all session-associated parameters and reopens the Administration Console to the System Parameters subtab.

The Enterprise Components V-Tab provides tools for managing schema components, as
well as managing links, reports, and trigger actions:
 |
- Input Tables: lists all Input Tables registered to GENII. Input Tables contain business
data schema components.
- Output Forms: lists all Output Forms registered to GENII. Output Forms match schema
components with web controls and arrange them into form pages.
- Data Dictionary: a tool to query the GENII Metadata Framework for common field,
table, and application names, definitions, and other commonalities.
- Enterprise Links: create and manage web links useful to all enterprise users. Links
added here will appear on the user application Web Links Subtab as found beneath
the Tools V-Tab.
- Internal Reports: lists all reports developed using the GENII Report Writer.
- External Reports: lists all Dataset Reports, Selection Set Reports, and Dataset
Products created through the use of Crystal Reports.
- Inventories: a GENII framework control used to bind several datasets into a functional
inventory system.
- Trigger Actions: methods to invoke specified actions following a specified occurrence,
or trigger.

The Enterprise Management V-Tab offers a bird's-eye view to this corporate information store:
 |
- Instance Manager: used to name and define GENII installations.
- Business Areas: used to name and define Business Areas. All GENII applications must be located beneath a Business Area and these Business Areas are built into the Application
Index.
- Bookmarks: a method of breaking the Application Index tree into a system of top-level branches. This is beneficial when the Index grows to above 800 nodes, or if users desire to have their GENII applications always open to their Business Area of choice. Bookmarks are intended for larger organizations.
- Enterprise Organizer: provides a means to assign newly built applications to the desired Application Index location, as well as move applications between different Business Areas and locations.
- Global Queries: provides a suite of tools to configure Global Queries. Global Queries are single tools used to query across multiple datasets using SQL. The Intersect Group is the counterpart application where multiple datasets are queried using spatial intersect.
- Stored Procedure Monitor: a tool for the scheduling and monitoring of database stored
procedures.
|
The Integrity Controls V-Tab provide tools for managing enterprise relationships, constraints, and field formats. Specific subtab and tools include:
 |
- Foreign Keys: a centralized listing of all metadata-modeled columnar relationships. The goal of the menu is to be able to quickly assess the common fields which bind the enterprise together.
- Validation Expressions: lists all validation regular expressions registered to the enterprise and contains a validation expression test tool for building new expressions. A link list to the applications and fields calling the expression is provided for refactoring purposes.
- Integer Domains: lists all integer domains registered to the enterprise. A link list to the applications and fields calling the domain is provided for refactoring purposes.
- String Domains: lists all string domains registered to the enterprise. A link list to the applications and fields calling the domain is provided for refactoring purposes.
- Range Domains: lists all range domains registered to the enterprise. A link list to the applications and fields calling the domain is provided for refactoring purposes.
- Foreign Domains: all foreign domains registered to the enterprise. A link list to the applications and fields calling the domain is provided for refactoring purposes.
- Temporal Constraints: lists all registered datasets which have been designated as one of the three GENII temporal types on their respective Input Table.
- Network Constraints: lists all registered datasets which have been spatially constrained to another spatial dataset using one of the GENII network constraint types on their respective Input Table.
- Domain Analyzer: this tool runs a SELECT DISTINCT COUNT against each field within a business table. The results help identify fields to develop domains against.
|
The Application Management V-Tab is used to build and manage GENII application types:
 |
- Application Wizard: this tool builds rudimentary dataset applications, either as
a single multi-table application or multiple single-table applications.
- Dataset Applications: contains tools to build and edit Dataset Applications.
- Input Applications: contains tools to build and edit Input Applications.
- Executive Panels: contains tools to build and edit Executive Reporting Panels.
- Intersect Applications: contains tools to build and edit Intersect Applications.
- Link Applications: contains tools to build and edit Link Applications.
- Export/Import Tool: contains tools to create GENII export files or import export
files to build GENII applications.
|
The Mapping Subtab contains the tools to operate the GENII internet mapping system:
 |
- Map Services: manages connections to either ESRI ArcIMS or GENII internal mapping services based on Map Server.
- Support Maps: manages base maps and query datasets used to select data by location.
- Symbol Sets: manages groups of color structures for symbolization.
- Label Sets: manages groups of texts and their fonts for labeling.
|
Security management tasks center on the allocation of application read, write, create, and delete operations across the user base, as well as the organization of that user base into manageable Business Units:
 |
- Security Mode: a radio button selection which controls the desired security mode for the particular GENII installation.
- Business Units: all users must be assigned to a Business Unit for organizational purposes. In most cases, these Business Units will reflect the organizational chart of the enterprise.
- Manage Profiles: groups access operators into a named profile which may then be assigned as a block to a user or group of users.
- Manage Users: presents a searchable list of all users with associated application profiles, enumerated exceptions, and access operators.
- Manage Denied User: presents a searchable list of all enterprise users who have been explicitly denied GENII access. This allows users to be temporarily blocked without removing their profiles.
- Manage LSAs: presents a searchable list of enterprise users who have been promoted to the grade of LSA.
- Manage Developers: presents a searchable list of enterprise users who have been promoted to the grade of Application Developer.
- Manage ESO: presents a searchable list of enterprise users who have been promoted to the role of Enterprise Security Officer.
- Manage Administrators: presents a searchable list of enterprise users who have been promoted to the role of GENII Administrator.
- Access Control List: opens a tool used to pull a report of users who have been granted access
to specific applications.
- Manage Privileges: allows the administrator to open various Administration Console menus to LSA, ESO, or Developers.
