Please post your final entries to the Grand Opening Competition in this thread.

This thread will automatically lock at midnight February 21. endedat 0:00 on February 22nd 2015.
Be sure to give yourself enough time before the close of the competition in case there are any issues posting. No entries will be added in after the deadline, no matter what the cause of the delay. Note that voters will be judging the presentation of your work as well as the work itself. Final entries should be entered with photos that are large, crisp, and well lit. Members will be allowed a maximum of 5 photos per entry. Competition submissions also require a brief description of the materials used, completed size, intended final purpose and a link to your WIP thread.

Observers are encouraged to give comments & critiques in the user's WIP thread in an effort to keep this thread organized will submissions only. Voting will be open for 5 days after the entry deadline.

This piece is a stone entryway that has been ruined for some time and overgrown by vegetation:








Here are some 28mm figures for scale:


This piece is based on a 8cm by 12cm piece of alder board. The main construction is made from small, multicolored mosaic stones that have been given several washes and a dry brush. The tile floor, mostly visible in the fourth picture, is made from a textured piece of plasticard. The ground cover is mostly flock and static grass using Woodland Scenic products. The vines were created from lichen. See more details in the WIP thread. This is intended to be a gaming piece used with 28mm and possibly 20mm and 15mm figures.

I guess it is as done as it'll be before the deadline.

Completed size:
The Barbie Head from bottom of gate to top is 14cm high, if including hair bits, it's roughly 15cm, and it is about 5cm wide at the bottom (where the fence bits go in).
Each Fence (gate bit + mesh) reaches up to 30cm.
All three pieces combined can reach almost 70cm if you give a bit of a gap between the Head and the Walls.
...I'm not sure if I should cut the fences down a little bit, but games will help with that decision.
Edit: Each fence is roughly one bulkhead (storey) high.

intended final purpose
The whole thing is the entrance to a Scavvie/Mutant Freak Show - the Carnival of Mann.
Each fence bit can act as a wall in games of Necromunda, and be rolled up and put onto the back of a truck with the head-entrance so the Carnival can move to another area.
The Wretched Scummers pictured below are just some of the freaks that work the carnival, it's just that the Freak Show is quite large and these guys are a small faction/gang that works within it.

The entire (unpainted) Wretched Scummers (scavvy gang) poses for a group photo - one of the posters is "teeny weenie comedians" and another "strange little people".


The Human Mocking Bird, the leader of the Wretched Scummers (freak show gang) stands near his poster - he has always been a bit annoyed that his poster is on the Exit rather than out front.

Materials used:
Oversized Barbie Head,
2* Plastic gate from games Workshop (unsure exactly what they are from - I acquired them some time ago in a bundle of debris),
2* Pine Offcuts, cut to fit Barbie's face,
Lots of Vintage Posters stolen from google search and printed,
Long section of offcut fly mesh cut into sections appropriate for fencing,
2* old nails for end of fence,
2* plant label bits cut to size so the nails holding the ends of the fence up don't fall over,
2* yellow beads thrown on top of the nails,
5* Mushrooms, previously made using some fimo-type-stuff and the stems from cotton-tips,

Tools: scizzors, scalpel, brushes, paints, pens, PVA, supaglua, etc.

edit2: Seems that the ends of the fences isn't in any of the photos *shrugs*

Smugglers Cove

This piece is made predominantly of carves polystyrene foam, with the finished product measuring 38 x 31 x 13 cm for use in 28 mm scale. It was finished with grass flock and fine sand.
