Ok, here is my idea:

I'm planning on building an enclosure for some sort of giant alien bug, which was breached by the inhabitant itself. The whole thing will be built around this old toilet brush holder.

What is your opinion?

I was thinking along similar lines - something like a small pump-house with one or more large pipes pouring sludge into the canal, which would be a basic structure of concrete walls.

(01-07-2015, 11:45 AM)pendrake Wrote: [ -> ]2) The grated drain can't be totally submerged at the bottom of the sludge. (Then it would be a pool with a grate at the bottom.) If the sludge gets to the edge of the grate, rolls over the edge, disappearing into the depths, but leaving most of the grate clear—that's gold, that's a hole in the ground with extra features.

That is pretty much exactly what I was thinking.

(01-07-2015, 11:45 AM)pendrake Wrote: [ -> ]3) This one is shouting water feature louder than the others. What exactly is pierced by the opening? Number one: wall pierced by pipe; number two: ground pierced by hole (bonus points for grate).  But 3? Number three: ________________ pierced by _______________ through which sludge flows...

On this one, I was thinking the "opening" would be the end of the canal, where there is no longer any concrete walls. The walls on either side would end abruptly, and the sludge would just be spilling out in a fan-shape. Admittedly the weakest of the openings, but I thought it might still work.

Floodgates? Some metal panels that slid back or are thrown open added to the end of number 3 might sell the opening idea a little harder.
Hadn't thought of floodgates. Might just go that route. Thanks!

I think you should wash it first. Tongue
Sounds good; can't wait to see it!

Brown wash? (sorry, couldn't let this one go)
Hi, I'm thinking about entering - I know I've left it a little late Blush

I'm thinking of making some (literally scatter) terrain that represents the Tunnel and Vent outlets in Necromunda - from a gaming perspective these won't affect where minis can 'emerge' from - just look good on the gaming table.

For the 'Tunnels' I'm thinking, a couple of pipes coming out of the ground, but one the pipes is fake and has a secret hatch and ladder descending into the depths.

For the 'Vents' I'm thinking a few pipes again, but based differently that can be place onto existing terrain above the ground.

Thoughts?

Better late than never! I think I get what you're going for and it sounds good to me. Start building, there's still plenty of time.
I am kicking around making and molding sci-fi doors. The goal would be to cast doors to glue to foam core directly or slide into a rough hole in the foam. Over time, I could produce modest buildings with a common theme.

Maybe more utilitarian than Grand. Would this qualify?
interesting... I'm thinking a sink hole that has opened up under a building or area in the underhive, leading to a lower level... ala necromunda ... I must think about this....

I think it would fit in the theme best if you can manage to have the doors slide open. If the doors are fixed closed, then there really isn't an "opening" at all.
